‘Annie’ had tried to introduce kinky play into the bedroom with previous partners but had never been – as she wrote in correspondence before we met – “made to feel properly sorry for what I’d done”. Here’s a quote from one of her emails (reproduced with permission):
“I guess they were… too nice! Neither of them wanted to hurt me and I didn’t want to beg for it. So I guess I just left that side of me behind when I was with them and enjoyed the occasional light spank as way of compromise.
“What I’ve never experienced – and what I have fantasised about *many times* is that feeling of near (but never quite) unbearable pain. I’m not sure I’d like to go that far when we meet – maybe that’s something for the future. But properly red and properly sore… Yes, I’d like that very much indeed.”
